I recently reviewed the budget speaker post that has been an ongoing thread, and found it very informative -- and should reciprocate for all the great advice as I recently purchased a small second two channel system for the bed room. Of course the joy of music and hifi is that everyones tastand needs are different, but I hope my experience in listening to just about every speaker in Chicago over the last three years and countless hours of research is helpful.

I have located a Dynaco by Panor ST-70 that is virtually unused...the owner states that he purchased it in 1995, used it for about 3 months, got involved in a divorce, then stored it in his bedroom closet and pretty much forgot about it for years. It has an absolutely mint chrome chassis w/black cage, and the EL-34 tubes are blue glass (that he said he purchased after buying the unit "because the tubes looked cool when lit up"); there are no markings on the tubes that I could discern during my brief inspection, so I'm wondering who makes/made blue glass EL-34s...

I enjoyed RR's reviews of both the KEF iQ9 and the Monitor Audio RS6...but I'm puzzled as to why, in his conclusions, he gave comparisons between each of these models and the same previously reviewed speakers, but no direct comparisons between the two.

I just got my first ever 45rpm record and i dont know how to change the speed on my record player from 33.5rpm to 45. Do i have to get a different belt or is there something different i have to do? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm new to the forums and pretty new to jazz. Growing up my dad was a huge jazz fan (still is), though he was mostly interested in 20s through the early 50s stuff, not really into Beebop or any of the genres developed after that. So I had listened to some the earlier stuff and styles, Armstrong, Basie, Ellington, Jay McShann. Didn't really think I'd like Miles Davis or John Coltrane, but then I actually heard Kind of Blue and Blue Trane and went "wow". Anyway, almost 50 (in a month or so) and just starting my jazz education in ernest.
