Surround Processers

I am looking for a surround processer that I can connect to my pre amps EPL (external processer loop)that just provides the surround modes such as Dolby Digital, AC3, Lucasfilm etc without any input sources such as cd, tuner. Thats why I have a pre-amp to utilize my sources as such.

I am not looking to go into the upper stratosphere of pricing. Years ago there were some surround processers that one could have hooked up to an existing stereo, but I can not seem to find such a unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You can also respond to majesticrainbow at my aol address

Blind test in Spain

Forums

For those of you interested on or curious about blind testing, we have published on our web site the results and methodology used last time (accomodating some of the hot issues regarding blind tests such as test time, abx boxes, pressure, music choice) while meeting in our annual gathering nearby Madrid last may.

Rega vs Music Hall

Both Rega and Music Hall seem to be highly touted, high value, base level audiophile turntables. I am concerned with performance and setup issues. (Being able to get a proper setup affects performance.) I am looking to spend between a $1000 to $1700 for a complete setup. I am considering a Rega P5 vs Music Hall MMF-7 of MMF-9. Also, perhaps there are others to consider? Please advise or refer. MUCH appreciated.... Thank you.

Strange apparatus!!! (Tri-Vista SACD)

Hello,

Wondering if anyone else out there owns a Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista SACD player, and has experimented with DVD discs?

All the reviews I've read make a big point of the fact that the Tri-V will not play DVD-A. But I have read some postings on other sites that mention that it might!

I don't own any DVD-As, but I tried loading a DVD-Video disc into the Tri-V player. Remarkably, through trial and error, I was able to navigate through the menu, and choose various layers on the disc: PCM 2/0, Dolby 3/2+1, and Pro Logic.

Arcam Alpha 6 for US$40

Hi All - I just snapped up an Arcam Alpha 6 cd player for $40, it was sold as faulty as it had suddenly stopped detecting when a disk is inserted. Its in good physical condition plus it comes with orginal packaging, manual and remote which also suggests its been well looked after. My question is - does anyone know how these players detect the presence of a disk? According to the seller it just stopped detecting CDs, rather than getting flakey over time. Am hoping its an easy fix when it arrives later this week. Any suggestions where I should start?

Thanks

21st Century Vinyl

21st Century Vinyl

A highlight of recent Home Entertainment Shows has been the Sunday afternoon "Analog Clinic" presented by Stereophile senior editor Michael Fremer. Michael, who writes about vinyl playback every month in his "Analog Corner" column, spends an hour showing Show attendees how to set up a turntable and how to optimize the tonearm geometry. To judge by the attendance at Home Entertainment 2006, held last month in Los Angeles, this is a popular subject these days.

We have a stripped tonearm..we need some help...

The sides may get stripped.. are we in serious trouble?? and any thoughts about how to salvage what's happened..thanks
