Would really appreciate some advice on purchasing a new or used SACD player. There are so many models and features out there that I am getting dizzy in my research. I am not well-versed in the area, and don't want to end up with somthing that is over-hyped and under-performing. Budget is $500. Cosidering a universal player that has DVD, DVD-A & SACD capacty, but can go SACD-only (most important). Must also be multi-channel to fit a 5.1 system. I would lean toward higher-end used gear of 1-3 years. Cuttent set-up is an Outlaw 990 preamp, ATI 2500 amp (5 x 250 @ 8 ohm), and five matching 3-way Lyra speakers (DIY project by Daton Audio). Speakers are slightly harsh on top, so am hoping the SACD will smooth the edge.
