Getting a Systemdek IIX running again

I have a Systemdek IIX turntable that has been in storage for 15 years. Installed is a Sumiko tonearm and a Denon MM cartridge. I am the original owner of the unit, and it has been lovingly cared for since I bought it while in college.

I am getting ready to set it up again. I recently found new OEM belts on eBay, which I assume will need to be replaced. I have 3 questions:

HELIX by Legacy

Forums

So when are we gonna see a review of HELIX from Legacy.....it has to trounce any other system out there at the extreme high end of speakers, they are probably over $45K a set? I wanna see them mono amped with 6 AVA units using 3 per side and it's internal 750W Sub amp, a bunch of AVA Hafler OmegaStar EX units stacked and cranking out 1200W-1400W RMS, John, this will be the most incredible audio experience ever...go for it...get a hold of both Bill D. and Frank VanAlstine make it happen....

Most conventional floor standing speakers-too much bass

Forums

My comment is only for speakers with conventional drivers

I have spent a lot of time listening and measuring speakers in many different size rooms lately. I have even been in one room that was a converted 3 car garage with a double ceiling. (Built in room treatments - it sounded very neutral)

Why are so many floor standing speakers too short?

Forums

Audio Physic, QUAD, Monitor, Gallo Ref 3 etc

Why do manufacturers make speakers so short they put the tweeters/midranges 6" or below the average listening height? People actually buy stands for the QUAD and Gallo. That is ridiculous and a rip off. This is simple human engineering
