VPI users

Or any other lp cleaning/washing machine users.I am using a vpi17f washing machine. So far i've been using vpi's own cleaning fluid.I do not own any seriously dirty lps.Only lps i am unsured about their condition, are some used i bought recently(30-40 lp),put them on the shelve and since i am in the middle of redecorating the listening room (vpi disconnected) didn't even bother to check their condition.

Speaker = AMP question

Forums

Hey guys,

I am getting into the mobile karaoke business and just cought a snag. I really dont understand all this RMS, 4 vs 8 ohm crap. Here is what I got.

GEM SOUND EXA2950 Power AMP

2000 watts peak output
1000 WATTS RMS @ 4 Ohms Bridged
500 watts Per Channel RMS @ 4 ohms
250 watts per channel RMS @ 8 ohms

I also bought a pair of 15" 700watt ADI Sound w/ 7x9 horn tweeter.

350 watts RMS w/ 700 watts peak.

Frequency response is 45 to 20,000 hz. (8 Ohms) (101 db)

2 way 15 inch speakers with 50 oz magnet and 2.5 inch voice coil.

Sanity all over the place -- well almost.

John Marks' questions of how much better and whether the difference really makes a difference are right on. Sam Tellig's willingness to spell out sonic shortcomings in the Klipschs performance and still buy 'em because he loves them adds another chapter to why so many of us smile and wait to see what he does next. Art Dudley agrees with what I've said so frequently in this forum - just listen to the music. Great stuff.

Old discussion in a new magazine

Thanks to Lighthouse for mentioning this new magazine from the UK. www.hificritic.co.uk

I don't want to step on Lighthouses' thread but this topic seems to deserve its own space on this forum. Joining it with the annoucement thread will only cloud both issues. Therefore; http://www.hificritic.co.uk/downloads/Archive_1.pdf
