I have noticed how often Shure, Stanton and even in their day Pickering, get slammed for being somewhat less that others think of the likes of the low end Grado and the like.
It seemed to me that at their price points they offered great value and trackability. The norm today is that any cart that tracks at near 2 grams is acceptable.
I still remember reading reviews of the Shure Type 3, the IV, the V in all its versions (I owned one) and liked it and praising it trackability and flat frequency response when compared to moving coils that often seem tipped up in the HF.
So what are you rally listening to? Probably a lot of good sounding DISTORTION, not really what the recording is? http://www.record-producer.com/learn.cfm?a=3611
i spent today going to 5 different dealers as i desperately want a great component system (within a 6 grand budget). as a complete novice to the audiophile universe i was wondering what your thoughts might be on my conclusions
i listened to b&w 700 series, martin logans, paradigm 100v4s,and vandersteen 2ces
i found the vandersteens (which were running on a $500 integrated amp (cambridge audio?) honestly sounded great, and possibly the best-especially since i knew that every other place that i went to showcased their speakers through amps that i probably could not afford
