I've inherited a turntable which is aimed at DJ's, but I'd like to use it for semi-critical listening of my LP's. (My system is surely light-years away from achieving a quality listen).

The table is a Numark TTX1 and the cartridge is a Stanton 890 FS MP4 Cartridge (Spherical).

Ironically enough, "stereo" is defined as two or more speakers, not just two, though "stereo" has garnered a colloquial meaning of two channel over the years.

That's funny. And the old adage, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Or be more nimble with a test probe!!! Zaaaaaaaaap. If I was a good as you in using a meter I'd be dead on teh voltages I work on.....poooooof. Send it back and just say it don't work, play dumb, in your case it may not be playing!!!!!!
