Elgar, Yes!

Elgar, Yes!

It's about time this great composer was recognized for the deep well of complexity and musical emotional he brought to the concert (and recording stage). If you can listen to the Second Symphony and not experience that dark three o'clock of the soul, then maybe music just isn't your thing.

Killed my Marantz

Forums

That's funny. And the old adage, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Or be more nimble with a test probe!!! Zaaaaaaaaap. If I was a good as you in using a meter I'd be dead on teh voltages I work on.....poooooof. Send it back and just say it don't work, play dumb, in your case it may not be playing!!!!!!

Marantz Short

So I got my "new" Marantz 2270 serial no 11754 and decided it would be
a good idea to check the DC offset. One channel was at 70mV and the
other was at 30mV. Not bad, but enough to bug me since it seemed like
a simple enough fix. I found the manual online and was first going to
check the voltage on J802 like it says. Well I managed to short out
J802 to the ground (puff of smoke came from somewhere around the
middle cap). I turned it off and back on and everything seemed to work
fine so I proceeded to get the offset to 0 for both channels. Now one

Best tube upgrades for the Cayin A-88T?

Forums

Hi all,

I have a new Cayin A-88T integrated amp. It is my first tube amp, and really sounds magnificent... so of course, I was wondering what tubes you might suggest to make it sound even better.

I prefer a balanced sound - clean and detailed, with equal measures of musicality and warmth. I listen to a wide range of music (electronica, acoustic, rock, classical), and assume some tubes might be better suited for my needs than others.

It uses:

(4) KT-88 / 6550
(2) 6SL7
(2) 6SN7

Many thanks,

Bill

Beatles "Love"

My general rule is to avoid "processed" recordings. George Martin is the exception. Just got my copy of the two LP "Love". Played through it only once so far. Lots of smiles. Given that it is a limited edition (5000), I suspect guys like Jeff will keep one in the wrapper, but don't do that if you only bought one copy.

Even if you have as much Beatles stuff as I have in as many formats, this one is worth adding to the collection. Order now before they're gone.
