Having made the jump to hi-fi this year with the Arcam Solo and the Paradigm 100 speakers was one of the best decisions that I ever made. I even created a site (www.richshifi.com) so that I could share my experiences with others (Don't worry Steve it is not meant as competition to your site !). So the question then becomes when/how do you know it's time to take it to the next level. For example I am looking at a Jeff Rowland integrated amp for $5900 and wondering..OK for $5900 what am I really going to get?

I find the complaints about lossy forms of digital compression from the vinyl crowd quite ironic considering the crude form of analog compression represented by RIAA EQ. This analog compression scheme has been ruthlessly imposed on every piece of vinyl produced in the last fifty years... COME ON!

I am beginning to wonder if MC actually had a Theta jade at his possession.On Stereophile's home page,there's a review of the "jade" and MC,on the seventh paragraph,says "The remote control is large and full feautered".I own one and the remote control is nothing more that a joke.Pioneer's own
which is where the Jade's transport is based,is high-tech compared to the Theta's lol

I have recently upgraded my stereo and i am enjoying listening more than ever and i want to include Jazz to my CD collection.What are some recommendations that are representative of laid back slow Jazz that are above average recordings.Thanks.

I will be receiving my Jolida 102 b amp this week and i want to buy a second set of tubes and i have some questions.I dont want to get too excessive with the cost of the second set of tubes for this amp but i want a backup set and a set that will give a different feel and sound.The amp will come with EL84 and 12AX7 which i have used in guitar amps and i like the sound they produced in my guitar amp but what subsitutions would work well with the Jolida?I will be using this amp with a Cambridge Audio 540 v2 CD and a pair of Klipsch Cornwalls.I appreciate any input.

As readers on this board probably know I am a big fan of the sax in jazz recordings. I like Sonny Stitt, Jimmy Forrest, Gene Ammons along with greats like Coltrane and Rollins. I recently had a chance to listen to some other sax players that are not know by many except those true jazz fans and here are my thoughts..
