Not a word of congratulations from dup to the owner of the McIntosh tube amp when apiccar solved his problem with good basic thinking. dup only repeated and repeated the same tired old words and tried once again to prove he's better than another forum member. And so it begins once again. That's sad.
You can send this to the Dead Zone now, Stephen.

I'm looking to purchase a subwoofer to augment my Sonus faber Domus Grand piano speekers. My room is about 8'h x 14 x 18 or 2000 cubic feet. My listening is pretty much exclussive to music, and my tastes range from jazz to rock to orchestral to - some - folk. I would prefer a smallish unit. My budget can range up to about $2000. I'm auditioning the REL305, and have followed their setup, and while the bass is okay, I hear a lot of distortion at higher volumes. Any suggestions for a better sub for music?

I'm enjoying my new entry level system - Rega P1 turntable, Epos ES11 speakers, and Rega Brio amplifier. But intermittently the system will produce a VERY loud hum - much louder in volume than the music that is playing. The strangest thing is that I can get the hum to stop by tapping or flicking the amplifier with my finger pretty much anywhere - front, side, volume knob. I can also make it stop by jiggling the input cable (red/white RCA) from my turntable, though this only works if I jiggle it near where the cable connects to the amplifier.
