In the UK and $6,400 to spend on a turntable, amp and speakers!

Would anyone be able to make suggestions as to what would be the best I could buy for this amount of money?

A few things:

-I have 5000 plus records of all different styles but currently only use a Technics SL1200.

-I would like the convenience of a turntable that will easily change between 33 and 45 (none of that dismantling the deck and shifting the belt around...)

Your input greatly appreciated...

Survivor's Story

Stevie Nicks would like her forties back. "'It was eight completely wasted years of my life.' Here's the irony, she says: the 'powers that be' had sent her to the psychiatrist in order to keep her working, but the 'treatment' he gave her made work almost impossible. 'It's very Shakespearean. It's very much a tragedy.'"

VPI Scout Turntable

I have limited TT experience and have just added the VPI Scout TT to my system. It seems as though the sound is very much on the high side, almost 'tingy' (I don't no any other way to describe it but I am getting little or no bass). I am using a Dynavector 10x5 cartridge. I also do not get any noise from my speakers until the gain on my pre-amp is turned over 1/2 way up. Is this normal?

B&W 801D -- Classe CA-M400 or McIntosh MC1201 monoblocks???

Forums

Opinions desperately needed on amplification for B&W 801Ds. I have a pair being shipped to me. I have a choice of Classe CA-M400 or McIntosh MC1201 monoblocks for almost the same price. I have not heard either of these amps with the B&Ws and have no way to audition them, but have to decide by tomorrow which to order.

Please help! Anyone who has experience with either of these amps with the 800D, 801D or 802Ds -- your opinions would be greatly appreciated. I listen almost exclusively to classical. The source and preamp have not been decided on either.

In Ceiling Speaker & Receiver Brand Advise Needed

I'm trying to decide on in ceiling speakers & new receiver for my home theatre and the following brands have been recommended, I was looking for any recommendations or thoughts on the perceived best brands from this forum:

Speakers: B&W (CCM80), Polk Audio (LC60I), Boston Acoustics, Infinity, Yamaha, Bose

Receiver: Denon or Yamaha

Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts/suggestions!

Help?

I've come into possession of a pair of Infinity Studio Monitor 150 speakers, and would like to hook them up in such a way as to allow me to play music from an ipod or computer. I would also like to be able to use them when watching movies.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about these things. Can I do them? I know I need a receiver. What kind of receiver? I've got my father's old Bang and Olufsen, but it's analog. Might it work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
