Fried Q/4 loudspeaker

Fried Q/4 loudspeaker

During the late 1970s and early '80s, I worked my way through college by selling hi-fi, or more precisely, mid-fi. During those years, I heard and sold several hundred different loudspeakers costing under $1000/pair. Despite the fact that I experienced them under less than ideal conditions, I was nevertheless able to get a feel for their relative performance. When switching between speakers, the differences between them were drastically juxtaposed. No two loudspeakers sounded even remotely similar tonally, indicating that they all had severe colorations.

Cartridge distortion with complex passages

I have a VPI TNT IV turntable, a Wheaton Triplanar tonearm, and a Transfiguration Temper Supreme cartridge, going into a Spectral DMC-20 and DMA-180. I have set up my cartridge with multiple times of tweaking it, and on most music, it sounds crystal clear, but the last problem I have is that it seems to distort with complex sounds such as multiple instruments or even more than already distorted electric guitar. I've tried to change VTA and azimuth, among other things. Is there anything that you would recommend changing to eliminate this problem?

Music Industry Rocked on Multiple Fronts

In January 2008, Electronic Frontier Foundation's (EFF) Senior Intellectual Property attorney, Fred von Lohmann filed an <A HREF="http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2008/01/eff-files-brief-atlantic-v-howell-… brief in Atlantic v. Howell, a case that hinged on the Recording Industry of America Association's (RIAA) contention that offering files on a P2P sharing network was in and of itself evidence of copyright violations, whether or not it could prove the files were ever downloaded by others.

Focal chorus 706s

Hi stereophiles,
I have Focal Chorus 706s pair of speakers (year 2003), and Yamaha receiver RX-359. Sound is good, but bass is not enough weight for me. I want, of course, to buy a stereo integrated amplifier for my speakers. Can somebody tell me some experiences of these speakers, and recommend me amplifier price $500-$1500 with better sound for my Chorus 706s.

Very green and looking for help on a full stereo system

Hello everyone! I just joined up after checking out some of the posts here and was excited to hopefully pick your brains for my setup.

Just so you know, I *really* have no idea where to even begin, but am determined to learn. With that, I'm going to just give some of the hard facts of what I currently have, what I need to hook up to my new system, and finally what I'm hoping to accomplish with this now and in the future.

1. What I currently have:
