Exile in High School

Exile in High School

I was the Mix-Tape Master of Deltona High School. Deltona, Florida, USA. Somehow, after all these years, I've even kept tapes from way back in the day. <a href="http://blog.stereophile.com/stephenmejias/062607letting/">You reading this, Kim?</a> I still have that tape you made for me, all covered in bubblegum wrappers and Band-Aid brand bandages and your sweet profanity. Tapes packed so tight and deep with angst and desperation that songs get chopped off at their bitter ends, are left to rot in some chocolate brown Memorex hell. All Siouxsie Sioux and Jesus and Mary Chain and Jane's Addiction.

Want to build good system for records - head hurts

Like many special interest forums, I would guess you get questions like this a lot, so I hope I don't come across as too annoying.

I love music. Love it. You all understand this, so I doubt I need to explain more. I used to listen to LPs quite a bit several years ago as a kid/teenager, and enjoyed them. Moving away from that, I feel my music consumption has become quite sterile, and have decided to get back into vinyl.

Tivo This!

Tonight on PBS at 8 pm is Donizetti's La Fille du Regiment. Natalie Dessay is of course the main draw, but when this performance happened, the story was the tenor Juan Florez nailing the high-C 9 times in a single aria. The crowd went nuts and he was called for the encore (the first encore at the Met since 1994!) and he nailed it 9 more times.

I need your opinion on this setup

Hi all. After years of semi-crappy mix and match systems i'm contemplating a real beast to aid my music habit. I mostly listen to vinyl but i need a cd solution too. My budget is around 3000$ and here's what i was thinking of buying, any thoughts on this setup are more than welcome.

turntable: Rega P2
cartridge: Ortophon 2M
integrated amp: Rega Brio3
speakers: Dali IKON 6
cd player: Sony CDP-CX455 (not sure about quality, but i need a "jukebox" kinda thing)
headphones out: Rega Ear
headphones: AKG K240 (already own these)

thanks!
jm

Three years ago, the idea of a solid-state integrated amplifier that sold for only $1250 yet combined some of the best performance aspects of a <A HREF="http://www.stereophile.com/integratedamps/660">Naim Nait</A> and a <A HREF="http://www.stereophile.com/tubepoweramps/992dynaco">Dynaco Stereo 70</A> seemed likely to resonate with consumers and critics alike. And it did: Introduced in early 2005, the British-built <A HREF="http://www.stereophile.com/integratedamps/1105exposure">Exposure 2010S</A> was an unequivocal hit on both sides of the Atlantic, and remains in Class A of <I>Stereophile</I>'s "Recommended Components." Deservedly.
