I got for almost-free a set of Bertagni SM300 flat panel speakers. They pretty much rule, as many may know they're 4-way speakers made of huge polystyrene panels and they sound great, but the HF driver in each is a little piezo(?) tweeter, and one of them is not working.
I hooked up another tweeter (of a different design) in parallel briefly and got sound, so it's gotta be the tweeter itself, nothing is wrong in the crossover etc.
I have a vintage (circa 1978) Toshiba stereo component system. The amp has two analog wattage gauges or meters, one for the left channel and one for the right. The little light bulb (not really a bulb) in one of the meters has burned out and I would like to replace it. I have tried searching for a replacement gauge to no avail. So now I would like to try to replace the lamp but I don't know what to call the mini lamp inside the meter.
With the hardon? Maybe it doesn't grow until it's inside....the cabinet? http://www.feastrex.com/dimension5pro.html
Didn't someone mention how some company was doing some custting edge stuff, (KBK?) that he wouldn't explain, cus' all them secrets? This thing sure do look similar, from another company.
The high-end system I listened to yesterday had cable elevators. I noted my skepticism about their likely usefulness, and the high-end manufacturer I was talking to agreed. As it happened, the elevators on one side had fallen over and most of that speaker cable was on the floor. To the extent that that provided an A/B comparison, I could determine no difference in sound between the elevated and non-elevated. (the listening did include one mono track, BTW). Your concise reactions?
(For long & detailed, maybe better to post in the lengthy "perceptions" thread)
