I used to Ben Franklin quote to point out that I am indeed a newbe know nothing, but in this age of information only the willing can continue to be ignorant.
I know nothing about audio equipment. The sad thing is I collect cds but proper audio set ups are an enigma... which is even more awkward because I am a traind electrician. I just find the aduio world more overwhelming then a project at a home from the 1960s. This is mostly from the selection process.
I always enjoyed the equipment comparisons Stereo Review used to do, but nobody seems to do them anymore. I think it would inject some much needed fun into Stereophile's pages. Wouldn't it be cool to have maybe one per month? I just get tired of reading reviews that give the impression the equipment under discussion exists in a vaccuum. I'm thinking, "fine, it sounds good, but how does it compare to x,y and z? Which one is best for me?"
What the heck are you talking about? I said UL test, items to be listed for a purpose, for a use. they do not approve anything, when someone in ads uses the term UL APPORVED it is incorrect, are you completly retarded? I never said you can't use something taht ain't UL listed, I never said anything about any brand not being whatever it is you have manged to morph into, holy moly are you people goofy. read UL own site, they tell you not to use teh term UL approved, etc etc, what a bunch of nuts!!
I just got a new cartridge - and I'm very excited. After taking care of some feedback (loose wire), I'm getting some more surface noise than I did on my old cart. This is mostly light popping and it sounds like static discharge.
First, can improper alignment cause this? Or can new carts do that before break-in? If not - what else could this be?
