I have wanted to upgrade my Arcam to a more powerful system for awhile and after a lot of research I decided to purchase an Emotiva amplifier and preamp. They arrived today and let me tell you that I am literally blown away by the quality and the sound. They come wrapped in a great package with a lint free bag around each component. Together they ran $1300 and right now I am in audio heaven !!! Emotiva is the real stuff but if you want to pay for really expensive brands go ahead. www.emotiva.com
Had some friends come over to listen to music, and watch some music DVD's. I invited them 'cause they dig music but their little home "stereo" is just a little boom box.
We had a fine time and played lots of music and had good discussions. I realized later that they never ever mentioned the sound of my decent stereo and I was pleased by that. They weren't there to listen to "it" but to dig music and that's what they did. And I don't care about impressing anyone with gear. It was a given that this stereo would sound better than what they have and thus was never remarked upon.
I have a Pioneer PL-120 II turntable
the phono input on my NAD 1240 preamp has 3 settings for capacitance:
100p
220p
320p
it also has an MM/MC switch.
How do I know what my cartridge is? and what setting should I use for capacitance?
Sorry for the noobie questions
-Thanks
