Im looking for an entry level, but good cd player...
-Here is a list of a few players I found on online auctions.
NAD c520
Rotel RCD-971
California Audio Labs DX-1
The ROTEL is probably going to end up going out of my price range but the other two I would be comfortable purchasing.
The NAD has a 20bit DAC and some decent specs but I have read that the disc trays tend to fail on these units often.
...that we all have in common sounds?
I was sitting and listening tonight thinking it might be cool to see how others might describe what they hear with the same recording. Comparing where in the imaging a certain sound happens, location of performers, etc...
Example: If we all have Kind of Blue, does the trumpeter sound spitty at the start?
Is Miles' trumpet centered, or slightly right?
Where is the piano?
Or, maybe for something like Dark Side of the Moon, what do you hear and where is it and where does it go?
When I turn off my preamp my speakers pop. To stop this I have been turning off the speaker "a" section on my amp before I turn off the preamp.
-Right now I have the Amp plugged into one of the switched inputs on the back of my pre. Is this bad? should my amp be plugged directly into its own outlet?
Is there anything I can do to prevent the "pop" when I turn off my preamp?
Thank you for the review of the Power Plant Premier (PPP) on page 111. I'm glad that Mr.Deutsch liked what he heard.
Unfortunately, there was no Measurement section. The PPP is sold based on the premise that the PPP keeps electric voltage constant and that THD is reduced. Accordingly, one's system will then sound better.
Hi everyone,
I just started putting together my first two channel system and its so exciting. I am a music major in my 4th semester of college studying music theory and composition. I thought it would be fitting to start listening to music in high quality since I am going to be perusing a career in music.

I really like RD's article this month!
One thing I got out of it is that just because one person doesn
