I saw the advertisement for HDtracks on the Stereophile Newsletter. I decided to give it a try so I registered on their website. HDtracks sent me a promotional code for 15% off (whoopee do!) my next purchase. Two days later I went to buy a complete album download for $15.99 and the promontional code DID NOT work. I e-mailed customer service. It took them more than 3 days to respond and they basically told me...sorry pal but that promotional code is expired. They did not send me a new promotional code..GREEDY JERKS! That is a horrible way to treat a customer.
I have recently entered the wonderful world of tubes via a PrimaLuna Prologue 1 and am now looking to compliment it with a nice turntable. I am considering the Rega P3-24 (my price range is $1,000). In terms of a suitable phono cartridge for this table, what would those of you in the know suggest/recommend? I don't want to spend more than will be worthwhile given the price of the TT - maybe $100-$150? Also, I've heard that one of the downsides to TT's is that the cartridge only lasts a couple hundred hours before needing to be replaced. Any truth to this?
Thanks!
In your article in the May 2009 Stereophile reviewing the Bel Canto USB Link 24/96, you mentioned the E-MU 0404 as a viable alternative. My desire is to get as high a quality of sound as possible out of a PC dedicated as a music server and connect it to my Anthem D2 via an S/PDIF connection, using the DAC in the Anthem which can handle up to 96/24. I have been looking for good alternatives for this that are not price prohibitive and the E-MU 0404 seemed like a good option.
Good film.
