Sleeper tables on the used market.

Aloha.

Although a category of turntable that can be fraught with danger, it is an endlessly intriguing topic to me.

With so many people interested in getting into vinyl on the affordable side, how about a thread mentioning what people think are diamonds out in the rough of used tables?

All the caveats about condition, etc. apply. Just what tables you think are up to audiophile snuff that folks can be vigilant about?

Destruction of the empty spaces is my one and only crime...

Tonight I came home to discover that a small bookshelf that my wife had put up behind the computer had collapsed from the weight of the approximately 600 CDs that were on top of it. So far, looks like the CDs are ok.

I call my long-suffering wife at work and tell her the news. Remind her that tomorrow I'm going to briefly be in NYC. Talk her into letting me buy a big-ass RAID 1 drive so I can banish the CDs into the basement....

This should make Mikey happy

"Sales of vinyl albums have been climbing steadily for several years, tromping on the notion that the rebound was just a fad. Through late November, more than 2.1 million vinyl records had been sold in 2009, an increase of more than 35 percent in a year, according to Nielsen Soundscan. That total, though it represents less than 1 percent of all album sales, including CDs and digital downloads, is the highest for vinyl records in any year since Nielsen began tracking them in 1991."

Did I do good?

Starting my modest audiophile life! I just purchased some Martin Logan Aerius fronts. Will be pairing with some components I already have. Sony DA5 ES, Sony S9000 ES player, Klipsch center, sub and rears, all run through monster HTC 3500 protector. I have some older MIT term 5's that I want to here the sweet high's from the ml's through. In my very limited knowledge I no I need a pre amp but figured the DA5 ES would suffice for the time being....am I totaly blowing it?
