Cartridges...

I've found myself in need of a cartridge for my table. I've looked at several sources and haven't been able to determine which I should purchase, or what is a good price. I've come upon cartridges for $40 to $2600 dollars. I'm not trying to spend to much money on this cartridge, ideally I could pick up a good cartridge for less than $100 bucks.

So any suggestions for cartridges, or good places to look for them?

Also, what should I be looking for? Why would someone pay $2600 on a cartridge?

White Man's Blues

White Man's Blues

John Hammond has always been a strange case. Son of the legendary record producer and scout John Hammond Sr. who worked with Billie Holiday, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen, young John who sang and played guitar staked out a difficult piece of musical turf when he decided to make playing acoustic Delta–styled blues on the National Steel guitar his signature move.

Dudley Did-Write...

Does anybody else think "Watching television is like watching a sewage-disposal truck driven by a talking mule crash into a burning whorehouse" is one of the best lines he's ever written? As usual, he reaches into the toilet for his metaphors, but this time comes up with some really good $H1T! Bravo!

Why Cassettes?

Why Cassettes?

I was introduced to Scotch Tapes, “the worst hi-tech music label ever,” on December 9, by a Twitter</a> post from Jagjaguwar</a>. Oneida would be releasing a limited-edition cassette through Scotch Tapes. This was interesting news to me, first because I’ve been fascinated with the idea of a “cassette tape revival,” and second because Oneida is a well-established name in the world of underground rock bands. Why would Oneida release work on a format that had been all but forgotten by the music industry? Why cassettes?

Power Surge

I thought I would relay an experience I had regarding a power surge last week, so those of you that have not addressed it in your system, will.

I had a brief power outage (5 min.) last week. When the power came on, a surge hit my system. I have had outages happen on several occasions with no issues whatsoever.

Mind Lamp

Studies at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) Laboratory have suggested that the mind has the subtle capacity to influence the output of devices known as Random Event Generators (REGs). The Mind Lamp is a new ambient LED lamp, created by Psyleron, in collaboration with researchers from the PEAR lab. By exerting an influence on the quantum-scale probablilistic events that control it, your mind may be able to affect the colors that the Mind Lamp displays.

Totem Angst over followup review.

In the Jan issue Eric Lichte does a followup on the Totem Forest. In Mfg comments Mr. Vince Bruzzese unloads on Eric for what he sees as a poor review.

First of all, the day I have to "modify" a $3500 speaker to sound right is the day I am not a customer. I know...you saved some freight in having the coustomer mass-load your cabinets with playground sand.
