Installation of a Home Theater

A good friend of mine is asking for some advice (for a friend) regarding an custom AV installer called MediaCraft (http://www.mediacraftav.com/) Her friend is building a house in VA and wants to do a $15,000 small home theater plus a few multi-zone audio locations. Does anyone have experience with Media Craft? They look okay to me, but I thought I would post here first.....................

Vandersteen 2ce signatures

Hi, newbie audiophile here.

I auditioned the Monitor Audio silver RX6 the Triangle Heliade and the Martin Logan Preface with a Moon i-3.3. I haven't bought yet. I have the opportunity to buy the 2CE Sigs and am wondering if I'll be happier with these than I am with the ones I auditioned. I have no opportunity to listen to the Sigs? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Recorded Sound vs. the Real Thing

JA states in this month's editorial that reproduced music and live sound are two different things. Hardly anyone would disagree with that. What shocked me was how *close* playback came to a live demo that JA and others heard recently.

Where this demo came up short, however, was in the loudspeaker. Don't conventional designs smear transients ? Aren't they high in distortion...and noise ? I would think a cutting-edge horn (like the big Magicos) would bring out those missing transients a little more....

New system advice.

Well, I'm due to replace my vintage system which now gets all the critical listening. I'm going to sell off parts of it to fund a new system. I've settled on a few pieces to continue to explore and would like your help in determining any pitfalls to avoid and new directions that might be apparent. The room is 11.5' by 15.75' and has room treatments consisting of bass traps in the corners, and absorption panels at the first reflection points, behind the listening position and on the wall behind the loudspeakers.
