In the Sweet Spot

In the Sweet Spot

And, yes, while hanging with Jon and Corrina, we did find time to listen to some music. Here I am, sitting in the sweet spot, in awe of the views (sonic and visual). I don’t think I’ve heard a more thrilling system. Jon’s got the sound optimized for size and impact, with incredibly focused, larger than life images set within a massive soundstage. Transients were startlingly fast and clean. And while I’m not usually too fond of subwoofers, the sound here was completely seamless, the subs adding texture and punch while never intruding upon the musical flow.

After Boo Boo’s, we made our way to Cheap Thrills, another excellent San Luis Obispo location filled with books, movies, and music. Upstairs is where they keep the delicious vinyl. I’ve never seen a better selection of country music. I was so tempted to buy every Bobby Bare, Willie Nelson, Charlie Pride, Merle Haggard, and Tammy Wynette album they had.

But I know what you’re all wondering. Hiking schmiking. Beauty schmeauty. You’re wondering if we made time for any vinyl shopping. Of course we did! Here I am, making my way through the deep stacks at Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo. If you’re ever in the area, you definitely need to stop at Boo Boo’s.

DIY speakers

Hi,

I have not heard a DIY speaker yet. But when I was browsing DIY forums, there are a lot of comments that these DIY builds are comparable to branded speakers which has 2X, 3X, 4x the cost. I saw one 800 dollars worth DIY speaker that claims to sound as good as 4K - 8K branded speaker. Any opinions on this? I am just curious with these DIY speakers.

Mahler #3

Hi

Ive seen #2 which was magnificent and #4, which was good but not as memorable.

I have to the chance to see #3 in a few weeks at the Manchester Symphony hall in the UK, what are the thoughts on how it would compare to 2 & 4

Thanks

Alan

Man, that's one BF "stimulus."

Using liberal CNN as a source of the size of the stimulus, which should favor the government's slant on this issue, they posit 4.7 trillion dollars.

Next, 300 million people in this country, thereabouts.

But...only 138 million 'taxpayers' according to the IRS.

Some smart guy can do the math, but 4.7 trillion divided amongst 138 million taxpayers seems to give an absolutely unfucking-overcomable deficit.

Maybe 340,000 dollars per taxpayer? I can't have done the math correctly, that number is too big.
