My kid's a good little Presbyterian...

Our two sons go to a Presbyterian run school, the eldest is 12 years old, in 7th grade.

They go out and perform public service tasks two days each month and this past week, they went to a homeless shelter to help clean and move stuff and do helpful chores. At the end of the day, they put on a talent show and my kid played some guitar and volunteered to tell a joke or two....

Do Too Many Things Affect Audio Quality?

It almost seems that absolutely everything affects sound reproduction. Do I really need to place precisely shaped and "engineered" rare wooden, stone, metal or alien objects in, exactly the correct position, and proximity to my electronics?

Shall I cryogenically freeze my brain along the the $1000/meter ultra wire some claim as best.

Could an extra crystal interface, or three, be better than one long oxygen deprived copper dong?

The June 2010 issue of <i>Stereophile</i> is now on newsstands. It opens with John Atkinson’s “iPad Daze,” an exploration of a print magazine’s inherent value in this digital age, and a piece that JA’s been thinking of writing for at least two years. He figured it’d be controversial, perhaps setting the entire World Wide Web against us, but I don’t think he expected to be <a href="http://forum.stereophile.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=88273&an=0…; for his application of Sturgeon’s Law to today’s popular music:

I was recently told by Cary Audio there is a factory software update for my original 306 SACD/CD player. Stereophile had reported tests revealed the players DAC truncated 24-bit to 16-bits. Cary stated the factory software update will fix the truncation problem - BUT - Cary specifically stated after the software update the player will play 24/96 and 24/192 inputs via it's digital input.

I know there are many other sampling rates other than 96KHz and 192KHz. So obviously this significantly limits the high resolution downloads this particular DAC can play.

May Audio..havent skipped a beat since Nizar's death.

Sent my Mastersound Due Venti Integrated in for a repair...a one week turnaround and im back in business. My little Jolida 102B has been a champ(she held down my speakers and whatnot while the big boy was getting operated on), and I am promoting her to center court in my bedroom system(Bryston there currently)...

Those guys are the best. Highly recommended.
