Within the framework of assisting the choosing a new sound system for our church's 1300 seat sanctuary, I stuck by my guns for the playback system for the new main choir room. I chose a Unison Unico Integrated amp ($1700), an Audio Analogue Paganini CD player ($1K), and a pair of Triangle Cometes ($995). That system has very good resolving power and allows our 50+ member choir to help discern their individual singing parts when learning a new piece.
Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing another pair of Large Advents to go along with my 25 year old pair in mint condition for a two speaker per channel setup as described in the following article.

I've finally got around to putting my tonearm database online in a searchable form. At present it has limited functionality but seems to work OK. Any problems / suggestions / corrections / additions please post here, thanks.

I was pleasantly surprised to see this cd player be reviewed by Art Dudley on the latest issue. I went trough an extensive period of auditioning which included the Naim CD5x, Arcam FMJ CD33 and Classee CDP10 among others (all more expensive alternatives than the Cyrus). I ended up choosing the Cyrus (with the optional external power supply), because to me the Cyrus was outright amazing with timing and imaging, a bit drier presentation in comparison to the Naim for example, but I think this is a matter of taste and not audible superiority per se.
I use Sennheiser HD650 headphones driven by an old NAD integrated amp (#3130 - 30amps). What $ amount should I expect to spend for a significant improvement in performance? Any product suggestions? Any opinions about the value of crossfeed technology (i.e. Grace Design or Headroom amps) or about the use of balanced vs unbalanced outputs? Thanks, gkus
After some of the posts considering why recordings are even made, and some older posts considering comparative listening, I figured it might be time to select a work I have a good number of recordings of and listen to them all in a relatively brief span of time. So, over the last week, I have listened to all eleven versions of Robert Schumann
