I posted this on Hi Fi choice forums, and haven't received an appropriate answer yet. I have a large collection of rock 45rpm 7 inches, which I know can sound good...but my Music Hall table's tracking angle is wrong, and you get that characteristic weak, distorted sound from the 7 inches. I was wondering if anyone ever made (or still does make) a dedicated, 7 inch ONLY player. Note, I'm not talking about the retro suitcase players or portable players, but an actual semi-hi fi table (but like..a "mini" version
For fun I added a Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 to my system. I used to use my DAC to do double duty. I was prepared not to like the sound, but my wife and I both felt there was a significant improvement particuliary vocals and guitar.
The SFL-1 is a single ended hybrid with 1 tube. I am wondering if a fully balanced product with more tubes will improve the sound that much better.
If the above is true can anyone recommend a balanced tube pre that won't break the bank?

I have a Pioneer RT-707 Reel-2-Reel deck that needs to be refurbished. Or, depending on the cost/availability of this service, I'm not opposed to finding a new or like-new deck (cheaper, even). I have boxes of old tapes I'd like to go through, and I'm mainly interested in transferring the keepers to digital. Any advice?
Hi. I'm looking for some recommendations to power my Monitor Audio Silver S8's. Have listened to them on Rotel RA03 and am thinking something around that price range (either new or second hand) but would like some other recommendations before purchasing. Have also had a look at (but not a listen to) Cambride Audio's Azur 640A and NAD C352CT. Also wonding what sort of power would be recommended for driving the speakers sufficiently. Was wondering whether 65W/70W (at 8ohm) per channel would give good sound at a medium listening level in a large space (100m2 rectagular room)?
I am in search of a decent 2.1 system for my laptop. I haven't been able to find a system that produces quality sound for music genres ranging from Classical to Metal. All of my speakers in the past have been damaged by any loud rock or metal music, when playing the music at a reasonable volume. Any thoughts?
Just finihsed reading TB Bio The Good Life. Very interesting person and a great talent. I doubt that anyone can claim the longevity as his professional career span is approaching 60 years. Reading about the business side of the record business is very interesting and it is no wonder the bigs have so much trouble. Makes you wonder how many really good A&R people there have really been over the years. It also is a testament that a successful career full of extensive traveling, vices, and time away from home often causes domestic strife.
