Turnstiles

Turnstiles

The PATH train arrives at its 33rd Street stop. The doors slide open. People slither out. Treading up the crowded platform, we are made to pass through stainless-steel turnstiles. I hate touching skin to steel, preferring to push the mechanism over with the forward motion of my legs. Almost as though the turnstiles aren't there.

Speaker/room interface - ignored too often

Forums

After having owned a fair amount of speakers I have come to conclusion that that out of room speaker measurements - relative to response - are almost useless and generally misleading below 60hz. I currently own Triangle Celius speakers. Their anechoic bass response is (+/- a couple db) flat to 43hz. However in room, using an RTA, I get flat response to 35hz and only 3db down at 30hz when they are set up right. When I owned Mirage 3si's for a short period the bass below 50hz was way too heavy and could not be corrected.

VINTAGE EQUIPMMENT REVIEW

I'm here to extol the reviews that have been published in the pages of Stereophile and to make a few remarks regarding those people who find fault with something that no one forces you to read. I will not bore you gentle reader with the specifications and a list of my main mega buck listining room however will say that as a life long subscriber to stereophile I have followed many a Stereophile ( well maybe not the Tice Clock )recommendation

Consonance CD120-the final piece for my 2 channel system!!

I just picked up a Consonance CD120 CD player that rounds out my 2 channel rig. I really like the way this unit playes music. Very dynamic, great soundstage, very tight & powerfull bass, just very musical to my ears. Not to mention getting a great deal on it being a demo piece. The rest of the rig is a Conrad Johnson PV14L tube preamp, a VanAlstine OmegaStar 440EX (220x2) ss amp, playing thru AAD 2001 monitors. I am tickled pink on how this system sounds. I think I wiil be quite content for some time to come. Cheers to great music listening!!!!
