Hi
Has anyone successfully used a pro audio amplifier like a Crown or QSC as a hifi amp ? Musical Fidelity is pushing very hard that you need large amounts of wattage to reproduce music accurately. If this is the case one way to get the large amounts of watts would be from pro audio amps.
Any experiences or thoughts
Steve
Newbie looking for $350 preowned integrated amp suggestions
Hello all,
I am a "born again" budget audiophile junior.
I sold Linn, Creek, Naim etc. when I was 15 and now at 38, am getting back into the game. I am currently looking for a good, budget sub $400 integrated amp (preowned).
Loooking for suggestions from all of you experts out there.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Regs,
Todd

Idea: crossover for using speakers as sub

I recently ended up with a pair of TDL RTL2s for $100, seemed like a good deal, so I bought them. My other speakers are Royd Apex. Being that I have virtually no experience with audiophile matters, I have an idea for getting a more extended bass using the TDLs as a sub, looking for someone to tell me this is a stupid idea really. So the initial plan is to put a crossover in between the amp and speakers, so I can output frequencies below, say, 50hz to the TDLs and leave the Royds to do the rest. Has this been done before? If so, or not, would it work??

I'm looking to get myself a 2nd hand cd player to play the few cds i have, not wanting to spend more than $100 though really, is it even worth it? It's not like it's going with a high-end setup - a nad c320 and royd apex speakers (occasionally tdl rtl2).
Is a nad cd player likely to pair better with the amp, or at this price range is it really a matter? How much has technology advanced in the last 10 or so years, it seems to me that very old cd players had a warm almost vinyl-like quality, is this in a good way??

I'm kind of bored of seeing the same stuff over and over again on iTunes, and I know that there are a lot of people from around the world on this board, so let me know what's new and cool or old and good from where yall are from. I want to hear some new stuff (and unlike most Americans I am open to music that I've never heard of before, even if it's in a language I don't speak.
What are you listening to?
Hi everyone,
Cool site!
So I've always loved music and listening through headphones but I've never had a quality or high-end anything. I want to change that, but I don't know where to start.
I plan to rip all my CDs to a hard disk, so storage is something I'll have to figure out. And I'd like to go as wireless as possible.
So, how do I get started? Can anyone suggest or recommend a basic set up of high end gear that would let me go completely digital and wireless? (If so, I'd much appreciate laymen's terms wherever possible as I'm starting from scratch.)
