Symmetry & Balance

I'm just wondering, out of all the little audiophiles on the planet, what the percentage would be that obsess over "S&B" (that's "symmetry & balance", NOT sex & beer) within the confines of their listening spaces. You know, like the speakers have to be exactly symmetrically placed within the room, furnishings, decorations, EVERYTHING has to be symmetrical. Is this just normal audiophile behavior or is it something else altogether? Is being an audiophile nothing more than being a music lover who also happens to have a degree of obsessive/compulsive disorder?

Speakers for amazing Shangling MC-30

I have just listened to the Shanling MC-30 (CD/tuner/valve amp with 3W output). It sounds amazing but I wanted some ideas about wghich speaker to partner it with. SL-1200 MK2 Technics

Hi,

I was trying to obtain some opinions on the sound quality of this turntable. I used the search mode, and did not get anything useful. In some audiophiles it is highly praised, even more with a high-quality cartridge. There is also a model that can only be imported from Japan the Technics SL-1200MK4.
These two models are aimed at the audiophile market and not at the DJs, but there is no mention of it in Stereophile.
Thanks

Upgrade or Replace?

Hi Friends,
I've got a seven year old system that is still going strong: Maggies I want to keep (MM12s), a Plinius integrated amp (2200i), and a Rotel CD player (RCD-991). I was thinking about getting a separate DAC (like Music Fidelity's X-DACv8) and maybe a preamp (like Music Fidelity's A5CR--although I don't know if it will work with my amp). But I was also considering getting rid of both the CD player and the amp and starting over with the Maggies. What do you think? Let me know and thanks, Andrew

Budget Phono Preamps

Hello All. New here and, while I know this question has probably been posted in the past, phono preamps at the "budget" level keep appearing and it is impossible to audition them all. I am using a Music Hall MMF-5 turntable, previously mated with a Creek OBH-8. That little preamp is dying and I don't have a lot of money. I am interested in impressions of the preamps listed below. Even better if there are people who have auditioned any of these side by side.
