Costco Selling Turntables?!

You know vinyl's making a comeback when Costco is selling them. I went to Costco to buy some grocery, etc., then noticed this Ion Turntable sitting next to some $200 Sony 5.1 system. Admittedly, it's a 100-dollar USB table, but I'm sure all those cost-benefit analyst vultures at Costco have figured out that there's a big developing market for analog.

Zenph Art Tatum?

Forums

Anyone hear the Zenph Art Tatum disc yet? I have to be honest, no matter how many people loved it, the Zenph Glenn Gould Goldberg was not the Glenn Gould Goldberg, IMHO. But they do know how to pick the pianists I adore! And I'd love to learn that the Tatum disc is a success... I just don't want to buy the disc only to have the Zenph/Gould type of disappointment to hit me.

JGH, way back spoke of...

Reliability and lack thereof on ARC stuff....AND, amplifiers with POWER to produce realistic symphonic levels.....,Who would have thought ya needed WATTS to do that. How come now the 8 watt amplifers, seem to get some credibilty, when they are in fact a joke, at absurd prices http://www.stereophile.com/tubepoweramps/689/index2.html

Thanks Guys!

Thanks to the whole staff and esp. JA for putting together such a fun and encouraging issue. I used to feel like the only one out there still carrying the vinyl torch but now it feels good be back where the fun is. Our local record shop is very busy- lots of college kids and such in there with all the older vinyl die-hards and it feels pretty sweet. Excellent lead in by Stephen- keep those coming from him.

Elevating/Tilting Floorstanding Speakers for better Sound?

I have a pair of Thiel CS 1.6 speakers, which sound great, but unfortunately are rather short for floorstanding speakers. They are about 5 or 6 inches too low for optimal listening. I could purchase an outrigger set, but that would only get me an extra couple of inches. What is the best way to raise floorstanding speakers? Would using telephone books be a terrible idea?

So you keep comparing reproduced end

What about how it was recorded sounding one way or teh other? The mics change it all, and once that's waht was done, if you don't like the sound at the playback side, you need then to EQUALIZE it? Tone controls, cus' what if you think it doesn't sound good? Or if your speakers stink and change it again? Wall outlets and under cabinet magic feet, don't matter. http://www.record-producer.com/learn.cfm?a=4547
