In last week's responses, many of you wished for ubiquitous high-resolution downloads. If this were to happen, what is the most you are willing to pay for, say, a 96kHz/24-bit download of a full album?
In the world of big power, big money amps what is your take on how many watts is enough for serious listening in a average size room. My listening room is roughly 9'D X 15'W with a 9' ceiling. My current amp of choice is a Classe CA201 feeding 400w @ 4ohms to a pair of Legacy Signature III towers. I have been thinking about upgrading my amplifier to a higher quality unit but am torn between going with either a low power unit like the PASS XA30.5 or a higher power unit like the Bel Canto REF1000 MkII.
Nice collection of pictures for the music lover ...
Today our dumbass president decided the swine flu was a problem and declared it a national emergency to cover his ass because the vaccine is virtually nonexistent. What a fucking ass. Too little too late. At least a hurricane gives you little warning. This dumbass has had over a year to prepare. Fucking loser. And he wants to control our overall health care? Yeah, right.
Couple of Q's. First about Ayre CDPs in general: Ayre's ad in recent Stereophile claims they were first (2002) to use CD-ROM drive. That seems hard to believe considering the date: 2002. Surely some other manuf. has used a CD-ROM drive in their CDP. Can someone clarify?
In the 5/2003 John Atkinson Ayre CX-7 review , JA noted:
I'm setting up a new room and would like to use my Behringer 2496 to help me do it. It has a RTA that would help me place the speakers & seating position but I can't figure out how to connect it to an ARC Ref 3. When I've used it previously it went into the tape loop but the Ref 3 doesn't have one. It has a tape out and a processor in but I don't think the processor in is the way to do it. Is there someone here familiar enough with the Ref 3 that can give me a hand? Thanks.
