A cabal of record labels&mdash;including Arista Records, Warner Bros., Capitol, and BMG&mdash;have taken legal action against the Russian music site <A HREF=http://www.allofmp3.com/>allofmp3.com</A&gt;, charging that the site offers their music without having received permission. Sony BMG Settlement Grows Even Larger

Sony BMG Settlement Grows Even Larger

Two days after reaching $1.5 million settlements with the states of Texas and California over its knuckleheaded attempt to prevent "unauthorized" use of its CDs, Sony BMG agreed to pay another $4.25 million to an additional 39 states and the District of Columbia in what has become known as "the rootkit debacle."

Era Design 4s and Subs

The new Era Design 4 review includes using two Sub 10 subwoofers. Why two? And if it is has to do with the rather high cross-over frequency, I wonder if a single subwoofer coupled with the Design 5s (which go a fair bit lower) might be a better value overall?

Acoustic instruments as THE reference.

I just got through reading Jason Victor Serinus's last 2 articles relating to how we judge audio "quality" in "How we see it". He has a real point when he notes that many (if not most) people don't use live acoustic sound as a reference and judge audio qualities very subjectively based on what they "like". I am a strong believer in using real unamplified instruments (including) voice as THE ultimate reference for how a piece of audio gear should sound. It is said that humans have poor "audio" memory but strangely I have found this to be completely false.
