receiver for b&w 805s

Hi
I have just bought a pair of B&W 805S speakers and need a suitable AV reciever to drive the units. My budget is 1500$ for the reciever. I would like to build a 5.1 home theater system later but these will be my front speakers. Can you suggest a suitable AV receiver/separates which would go well with these speakers. I would also like to know the features that give the best performance out of my set up.

Are there any articles that I need to read to understand a good musical system.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Babu.

Those are extremely revealing speakers. If you hook them up to a mass-market receiver all they will do is reveal the shortcomings of each product. The only thing that I can think of in your price range and that is 5.1 that would sonically be a good match is the Rotel RSX1057. Don't let the 75 watts per channel rating fool you, it will more than run them. Another option that would be slightly out of the price range that you established is the Arcam AVR250,90 watts when driving two channels 70 watts with all channels driven. Again don

Re: receiver for b&w 805s

Hi

Thank you for the information. I was wondering if the Denon 4806 or Creek 5350 SE or Bryston 3b SST would do good with these (if price is not a constraint).

What does it mean by revealing speakers. How does one choose a good preamp/amp with these speakers?

Please inform

Babu

The Creek 5350SE is a very nice sounding integrated amplifier, but, it doesn't have a tuner section (it's not a receiver) and is 2 channel only.
