Will we ever get to the end of the Jazz list? Boy I hope not. Today it's Eliane Elias "Paulistana".

I'm diggin on Fred Hersch Play's Monk, today.
I've been doing alot of tuning to piano the last couple of weeks http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/t4p585-michael-s-system so I got a mile long jazz piano collection laid out in front of me. Where some people may get a kick out of looking at components, I'm kinda like that looking at music collections. Not in the room with the music of course, just a chair in there, but right outside the room. What a hobby right? Think about how different it is from any other hobby, any other lifestyle really.

I hope Never! MG-
Dexter Gordon- Tangerine.
I have it on repeat, I'm so in love with track no. 5: Everybody Loves The Sunshine featuring Jose James.

This is another great album I've been hooked on for a while now. I saw her perform live and it was glorious! So much energy, such an amazing vibe. I loved everything about it, even got a picture with her and a copy of the album autographed. Definitely check it out.
She features Anthony Jackson on bass, and Simon Phillips on drums in a trio... and what a trio it is.

Hiromi- Alive!
Paul Motian "I have the room above her"
Has been pulling me into the listening room all day. Producer Manfred Eicher (ECM) nailed this one. So much fun to listen to a label like ECM that records and lets the recording be about the music he loves. This recording dances out the door down the hall and comes back to greet you again. A comfortable hour ride!

Excellent -MG.
You guys remember Joe from the Brubeck days, well his solo work which started a while after is smashing. I'm listening to "Going Places" and can hardly stop my ears from smiling. This recording has some special treats on it.
thanks for your comments Allen, merry Christmas everyone

The new Kenny Baron/Dave Holland disc is outstanding!
Happy New Year- MG.
Guys with this much mileage on them could easily just phone it in, but this aggregation refuses to do so. Former alto player Craig Handy dissed these guys as, essentially, old men with frowns, but, personally, I hear endless joy and uplifting of spirits on this album. Billy Harper is criminally underrated on tenor, Donald Harrison is nothing if not joyful on alto, Eddie Henderson and David Weiss remain star caliber trumpeters, George Cables is a monster, Cecil McBee has forgotten more than most younger players know, and Billy Hart still can float like a butterfly and sting like a bee on the drums. Can't recommend this highly enough.
Motema is an excellent Jazz label.
I can hardly await for the new 2015 releases!
Chick Corea- The Vigil.
''Impromptu'' Live at Rhapsody.
This album is everything a live jazz album should be, spontaneous, playful, deep and incredibly well recorded.
The Bass players sound shows a strong link to the late Charlie Haden, Toots Thieleman's pianist of choice Bert van den Brink is in superb form.
The liner notes claim that

"dream a little dream" is melodic and pretty epic, as well as well recorded... and that mulligan saxophone. worth the FLAC format, and now i am hunting other stuff. gerry mulligan. a new favorite, didn't listen to him back in the day. silly of me.
Looks like there is a new Iyer Vijay CD on the way!
Gone With the Wind by Dave Brubeck
The Nat King Cole Trio (late 40s/early 50s)
The Complete Julie London
The Mitchell/Ruff Trio- "The Catbird Seat"
In a funny and strange twist;
Bob Dylan - Sinatra tribute.
Brad Mehldau's House On Hill
A wonderful tribute really, to Rossy. Brad handed over the space and Jorge filled it. Some of the best jazz cymbal halos out there. Takes you back to Keith's work on bye bye blackbird, again another great cymbal filler.
These recordings are not only great listening but can also be used to test your 360 and front to back soundstaging. Great examples of why the soundstage is the hobby of listening.

How about a little Ornette Coleman? R.I.P.
Duke Ellington and John Coltrane is what I am listening too most frequently lately. Individually, each was brilliant and together...truly special. In a Sentimental Mood is powerful and the piano work is just extraordinary.
Everyone who knows me knows I've been spinning this one on Vinyl, CD, and listening on FLAC; comparing all three and various components. I just never get tired of Miles.
