Not at all, as long as you had the arm lifted off the record. Some people leave their turntables spinning all the time.

No worries, it's fine. Not an issue to have the motor run, it's made to do that. Say you get 10,000 hours out of a motor - you have 9500 left!
thanks guys! i was kinda freaked out this morning...i feel less bad about it now, glad i didn't do any damage....
the needle was definitely off the record, i think that's why i didn't notice the table was still running....
Not long ago, I accidentally left my TT running, with the tonearm tracking the lead-out groove all night long. I contacted the guys at Needle Doctor (the seller of my cartridge) and they said that that happens too, and not to worry about it. It just subtracted a negligible few hours from the likely 1000 hour stylus life.
Think of it as entry into a club with many members; most of us have done this at one time or another.
Reminds me of a song by the group "Lit."
Can we forget about the discs I played when I was drunk...
I didnt mean to play you that
I can't remember what was said or what you threw at me
Please tell me
Please tell me why
My record's in the front yard
And I'm sleeping with my clothes on
I left the Rega on all night
And you're gone
It's no surprise to me I am my own worst enemy
Cuz every now and then I kick the living sh*t out of me
The smoke alarm is going off and there's my turntable
Still turning...
Wow, that's hard core. Even for me. Are Art and Michael among the ranks of perpetual spinners?
Dude.
I think that Sam Tellig likes to spin on top of the records. That's how he developed his evil laugh.
Nice, made me LMAO.
So 1000 hours on a stylus?
Stylus lifespan is also controversial.
1000 hours would be pitifully short, to me.
I'd say perhaps as much as five times as long. (Even longer.)
We can see what others think.
