Oh, I thought that was your new pick-up line!

Hmmm- specialty stuff now, and many (maybe most) upper-end carts have a fixed stylus, so it can't be removed by the user. I might be wrong but it's similar to why there are so few hi-fi repair shops any more at all.
Yeah. Although I'd still like to see how my current stylus is wearing - it's a fixed stylus (moving coil) but if the shop still existed I'd bring the whole cartridge in for inspection. The key is to replace/retip things before we can HEAR the difference a worn/damaged stylus makes.
I think there would be more market than ever before for "DJ" turntables using Stanton and other cartridges w/ removable styli, but what do I know.
It is a damn shame that good repair shops have disappeared.

Tried it, but "balance my tonearm baby" worked better.
Which I managed to read as "balance on my tonearm". Must have been thinking of that ad, you know the one...

For the same reason when you go to the grocery store you no longer see the test tube display and related stock.
Actually, Bill you can purchase or possibly borrow a USB digital microscope and hook it up to your computer. With a decent light source, you can look at your stylus quite easily.

any reccomends for a decent one, Doc?
