For shame DUP. I thought you of all people would be smart enough to see bare-faced marketing BS when you saw it.

Those guys say "cheap" TTs are bad because they only sell VPI tables! Doh!? Ya think that might bias them a little?

Rega has been making excellent 'table's for more than 20 years. There arms have been used and copied by half the TT manufacturers out there. The Music Hall tables actually employ mnay of the same VPI ideas but at much lower costs. VPI makes excellent tables- no argument there. But these guys "free advice" is nothing more than self-serving marketing sales talk.

Well, then.

I guess DUP is endorsing that site and its opinions.

He must be into Hot Stampers.

* I vote we move this thread to the Vinyl Forum, since it is about turntables and records.

Yeah, or maybe The Dealers Showcase forum! It's a sad day when our biggest anti-sales BS curmudgeon becomes a an unwitting shill.

Its amazing how people criticize equipment they have never even seen before. I was once between turntables and in the meantime I picked up a $99.9999999 Audio Technica TT with phono preamp aka TEAC aka Radio Shack and who knows what other brand it has had stamped on it over the years. Fact remains my albums didn't sound like shit on it. I pulled out Mrs. Sanford's YES album and it sounded the same as it always sounded. A scratched up POS gay album. That is what it sounded like.

Uh oh. I can see someone reacting to THAT statement.

You didn't DeMagnetize it did you? Then de warp it in the Furher oven? Then clean it on the latest washing debacle machine in this month's StereoPhile? And finally use a the specail platter mat that gives optimum sound. So many things wrong in trying to play back those glorious LP's. At least if you got teh CD version of the "gay" Yes album ya woulda' got it done faster, finding out the album sucks, musically and sonicly. I have both, I never was a fan of Yes, just say no to Yes. They always sounded poorly recorded, thin, cluttered musically, nothing reaches out with any soul. Just crappy music. But I bet if it's played on a $110,000 TT, it get's glorious? And no I am not a fan or endorser of "hot stampers", whatever that might be, at $299 for a $3 LP!!!! And I really wonder how he get's these great sounding records, where is he looking, etc. And he plays each one, then sells em as new? Hmmm, or how does he get these ratings, etc etc, it's got me confused. I ahve bought some stuff in the bargain lists, some good deals on some stuff, I ain't never paying no $299. for a $3 record, bad enough those $30 NEW issue ones suck, warped, and never sound as good as they proclaim, once in a while i got one that really grabbed me, I think the Elvis one did..I forget which one, but it sounded good, and I think actually according to some Record lists, since out of print (again) holds it's value, to whom, I don't know? Like those $40K vases on Traveling Road Show antiques, yeah, $40K for the vase, as long as someone pays that for it, why don't they sell it on teh spot to the aprasier, if it's worth what they claim.....LP, SILL OBSOLETE...no matter what TT is used.
