I live in an apartment and thus an forced to use headphones much of the time so getting a good pair for $200 (That was my limit) took several weeks of research and trials of 6 different headphone brands and types. (Closed ear vs. open back)
I ended up buying a pair of Sennheiser HD 598's for $225 which was just over my limit. They are the open back design that always sound better than closed cup types.
You can know pick up either closed cup or open back in this brand of 598's for only $150. They come in black and a odd off brown color. These were the best of the $200 I.M.H.O. However, if you need isolation then the closed back is what you want and there may be better out there. However, with open back headphones the HD-598's are simply terrific. The sound stage these headphones provide is like nothing I have heard from other headphones in the past.
