Hopefully tonight if he was able to finally get out and about. This being a show open to the public usually means lots of room tuning diagrams.

That's kinda funny, Harold last night was telling me about the different rooms and sounds in Chicago. And some of his comments were about the chassis. He was saying how you can walk room to room and hear it go from open sounding to boxed in, and if you look at the chassis it is almost predictable.

We're booked at the end of May, so we won't make it. But if something changes, we might bring "Shelby" out.

On the cabinet and mass topic though, we have been asked to do some Tune Ups for some of the bigger boys, so this year we are going to be spending more time talking about tuning some of the bigger products out there. People are a little surprised when they find out we have both. A fine line to walk sometimes, but it's about the end listener. Plus there are some designers that are way cool no matter what the weight. It may be harder to find the right wood and transfer combos, but it's still a lot of fun for me.

We designed the HARP series a couple of years ago and are finally producing it. The stands and platforms have a pretty unique set of tuners on them, that do some very nice things to the harmonics on heavier components. It's not a one size fits all so we've been bringing in a few amps, pres and players at a time to get their range. We can now do Audio Note, Coda, AR, MR, VTL, Cary, CJ, most of the old Macs and Dan's line plus a few others. When someone sends me their amp it takes about 2 weeks to figure out the wood, materials and size combos.

Two welcomed surprises at this years AXPONA. One the crowd is younger and two there are more women. There is also more talk about Middle Class Audio. Not quite the same snob pressure as a few years ago. Yes, there is audio showing for a ga-zeal-ion $$$ but the mid-priced products are certainly being talked about.

As long as we are able to posts, thanks to John A being kind enough to allow us to be as vocal as we are, we're pretty happy with only having these few people come up with somewhat of a weird vibe. It's like you mentioned the KARMA thing. RoomTune has always been an up beat company and one that is for the listener. We're here to build that vibe back into the industry. Doing so, I have had to crack a few eggs as well has attempt to find my footing among those who specialize in years of sowing something a little less than professional. However as we did in the late 80's early 90's the good news will spread and those who love this hobby will come in by the numbers. The good will of music always out shines those who have agendas not so pure.

I don't think any of these people are necessarily bad people, they just have not learned to mingle their goods and skills with others well.

Roy Hall said something interesting at AXPONA to Harold. Roy said "this industry has never learned the word 'different'. They press on with good vs bad, and fail to understand taste." I probably butchered this quote, but the meaning stuck. This is an industry and hobby where so many want to be "right" that they spend most of their time focusing on the title instead of what the hobby's true meaning is "exploring the music". It's a hobby that has not yet fulfilled it's mission. That mission is to bond with the music and the musical instrument. We are going to get there, but the marriage of engineer & artist is not so easy for those who can see a digit, but not understand the flexibility of the use of that digit. It's the difference between ABCDF and a Sliding Scale. In other words, these folks are trying to take a moving thing and keep it in a box. Like with the Schumann thread, geoff not being able to deal with the harmonics or the sums, and only being able to see the 7.83....

An artist/scentist looks at the variables where as the engineer can only proccess a "fixed" unit or cycle, not able to get the flow of energy. They don't even see the cycle as a cycle, but more a cycle as a boxed package.

But this is what happens with growth, and this industry and hobby will and has grown, maybe not so much the stuck, but the free.

Hi Allen

We're going to miss Newport this year. And we're thinking about Rocky Mountain. Not sure how many shows we might start doing a year, that will be up to Harold. I would imagine Newport will be on the list to do next year.
