Hi. I wish my wife did you are doing! I see you are in a rush so I will chime in. I cannot recommend one since mine is over 20 years old and I have not kept up with the technology. I have over the years purchased equipment from Audio Advisor and have gotten great advice.I don't work for them - just a satisfied customer. Since you don't have time to do research or wait for a response here I would suggest you call them. You may even get it by tomorrow. Hope this helps - good luck.

The MusicHall MMF 2.2 is great for $449.

The signal from a turntable needs to be amplified and unless he has a really high end receiver, you will probably want to get a phono pre-amp to go with it. Music Hall has one called a PA 1.2 for $175 and there is a Musical Fidelity V-90 for $229. Both are excellent and will deliver fantastic sound.

Finally, if you really want to go over the top, you could consider a cartridge upgrade to an Ortofon 2M Blue which is an awesome cartridge. They will install it for you for free.

Finally, call them to place the order instead of doing it online. They will be able to offer a solid POV on whether the Music Hall is better than the Musical Fidelity phono stage and since you will be buying a couple items, it is not uncommon for them to consider a discount.

I bought my turntable, integrated amp and stand from them. Like Audio Advisor they have a 30 day return policy.

There are other tables available but in this price range, the Music Hall is probably the best.

I suggest you not order any turntable until you are absolutely sure it is one he wants.

Two possible scenarios otherwise:

You get him a table that he did not want, but being the loving, caring, empathetic & wonderful husband that he is, he hides his disappointment so as not hurt your feelings & lives for eternity with a table he does not like..…

You get him a table he did not want, & being the honest, truthful, faithful & wonderful husband that he is, he tells you..... & now you are disappointed...... for eternity.

In other words, maybe it would better to ask, & then order the table you are sure he really wants.
Better to be a little late than totally wrong.

Just my humble opinion based many many years nurturing a deep, meaningful & nearly tolerable co-existence with The Wife of a curmudgeon.
