Hi John

I keep 3 systems. The one I'm referencing on here with my posts is a simple two piece system using the pre and amp from a Sherwood 4105. It's stripped to the bone with tuning devices under and over it. The CD Player is as well stripped with the same type of tuning. It started as a FUNAI (magnazox). The electronics together cost a huge $129.00 US. The room is custom along with the speakers Mini Mod 6. The Amp is hardwired and so is the Player. There is of course one interconnect. All the wire including the speakers are 22 guage solid core Bare Essence and Picasso Type 1. The electric is as simple as the system. Straight shot to the circuit box with one two gang low mass outlet.

The system sits on a Tunable Platform 24" x 36" on a Tunable Floor. The system from the floor up goes, LTR Runners, Brazilian Pine Frame, LTR Runners, Argentine Pine Top Board, LTR Tuning Blocks, equipment, Top Tuning Canopies (Magic Wood, Brazilian Pine Zinc MTD Tuning Rods, with China Poplar down Tuning Rods). Also use a LTR Tuning Block for the transformer.

Knew I'd forget something lol. I use the 24" X 24" LTR/Brazilian Pine Speaker Platforms with the Brazilian Pine Spike Plate. Stands are Brazilian Pine Tops & Bottoms with LTR Posts.

Hi Guys

Today was a funny day for me (kinda funny, little scary). Someone showed up at my door (please don't do this lol) and gave me the audiophile visit surprise. I'm a very private person believe it or not. Anyway we did do some listening and I would guess that he will be placing an order with Sherwood and running by Walmart to pick up a FUNAI. Boy, you audiophies are a trip lol! I had Lee Ritenour playing and I guessed this was his style cause he stayed in the room for the whole recording. His eyes were wide open when he came out and I think he was just learning how to cuss cause every other word was F***, that was F***in great! Lol!

I'm finding a lot of guys ready and wanting to move away from the big systems. They usually (like my new friend) have huge collections of not only the audiophile standards but tons of music that he/we grew up with. I really don't like to do this but he asked to play one of his own sellections, and I of course said "well I may need to tune it". Well he tricked me and while in the room I heard two CD's BTO and Stan Getz. My day was shot as he got in a good 2.5hrs of listening and another talking, but it did turn out to be ok. He gave me a long list of components he has had over the years and it was a familar story. Tried everything and would always think he liked it at first but then would start noticing stuff he was missing. I asked what he thought of this sound. His answer was interesting and is why I'm talking about it now. He said "your system sounds like all of mine added together" but bigger. I did tell him this would not always be the case and he would probably want to tune from time to time, his reply was "we'll see". I'm not sure he got the whole variable thing, but I think he did get the size thing and that's a good start.

A simple system in tune cast a much bigger stage and the holes are not there, and that's what he said he wanted to hear. He was tired of having to play the trying to fill the hole game. One piece of music whould sound great then the next "holes" and he would move his speakers around, then the next recording, and he would have to toe in, and he's tired of the game. But mainly his doubt was if this system was going to be as resolving in detail. I could use a few cuss words to quote him but lets say he was pretty happy with this. His words were also "there is no digital glare".

As I said "Don't do this to me" but I guess it was ok since it gave me another positive story to share.

Yes, and about others who keep seeking higher levels of listening, but more importantly I talk about the listening itself and the music listened to.

We're at an important place in this industry. A change that is happening in real time and we all need to be talking about it. Music is a very big deal and becoming a part of all the major cities across the world. What do you see different today over yesterday in the worlds snap shot? Yesterday people were going to work and a few holding music boxes to listen to on their way to and from. Today everyone (or close to it) are wearing headphones, a totally different picture. And look at car stereo, and computers.

It's a different world in the technology of the lower priced products. No longer can the high priced boast that they are at a higher level. This is also very big news and worth talking about.

Truth is, some can come up here to be as disruptive as they wish, and it won't make a dent in the changes that are taking place. All they are doing is slowing down the opportunity for the audiophile to move forward.

So yes, it is my job (as it always has been) to promote the very best of sound. Do you think the audiophile can come up and say "bla bla bla" and it make a difference anymore? Sorry but the people who come up to make attemps at setting a stage of some type of put down is old news. The only ones listening and agreeing are the ones who themselves have falling behind the rest of the world in sound. Their the ones trying to keep something alive that has died or been replaced some time ago.

So in a way, thank you for your Bla Bla Bla, cause it gives a chance for the technical now world to keep speaking.

Michael,

I just picked up a pair of your Revolution 60 speakers, and looking for a good sub to add for bass extension. Any recommendations for something fairly reasonably priced that would provide good performance?

Hi J

You can join TuneLand and we can get more specific http://tuneland.techno-zone.net/ . I'd want to take a look at the setup and room and see what's going on. That would make it easier to guide you. There's a host of subs out there right now that I think are pretty cool including mine, but mine might be a little pricy for you, so let me take a peek into your sound and I'll try to help you make the right choice.

Also when you sign up make sure to get me a picture of your speakers so I know what vintage they are.

looking forward to seeing what you have
