Thanks for the input SS, but I have just purchased new speaker cable (and burned it in), and on Wednesday I am getting my new speakers. They will take around 200 hours to burn in, so I will be busy with that for a while.
I have read that many tweakers have achieved great improvements this way, and apart from the looks of it, and the constant inflating, it sounds like a great tweak. Of course there are ways to escape both "down sides", and I have thought of trying this more than once. Perhaps one day?
Thanks again

One way to escape the downsides of inner tubes (aside from the relatively generic performance of such non-ideal geometries) is to suspend the offending component with a single sapphire monofilament, one end of which is attached to the component's absolute center of gravity.
New speakers? Praytell, of what variety?
I think he got some B&W's.
805?
Sorry for being a putz and a stupid foreigner, but I don't understand the following:
...the offending component... Which component would be offending?
...a single sapphire monofilament... How would I be able to hang my TT in a sapphire string?
Thanks for the suggestion anyway. Tell you what, no matter if I understand zip of your suggestion, I have actually experimented with a new kind of support of my TT today, thinking in the direction of inner tubes, but without really making use of any awful stinky rubber hoses or the like (I hate the smell of inner tubes). The results as far as I can hear, are astounding. Here's what I did:
I had lying around in the never ending piles of things to get rid of, a very soft gel wrist support, meant for use with a computer keyboard. It was about 1
That was one of my ultimate wishes, but I had to settle for cheaper boxes, so I have ordered a set of entry-level Dynaudio's. They get wonderful reviews for the price, as they apparently have inherited many of the characteristics from their older "brothers". They are very affordable, and they are the same size (shoebox) and resistance (4 Ohms linear) as the Audio Pro's I'm replacing. Furthermore (which I like) they are equipped with a first order crossover, that consists of only a few elements. Sadly they are not beautiful, and have vinyl finish instead of veneer, but if you gotta save, why not there?
