Eon.
suck
Jan
Left
So Lamont's a coward and he's afraid of playing. That's fine - he can't get himself to play by the rules. You can go now, LS.
Uh?
"Uh"? Brilliant, Puppet-face. Just fucking brilliant. "Uh"? Jan wants to play a word game. Word games lead to poetry. Poetry is music.
And your response is, "Uh." Just fucking brilliant.
A pox on you and your kind. Miserable repressive masqueraders. Internet trolls who hide behind the scrim of no-identity.
What a miserable, meaningless life you must lead, merely existing to feed off of earnest attempts, from all of us, to progress through the lobes.
At last. A game. A game with infinite possibilities, and open ended. No pressure. Just post and game on.
And what is art? If not a game? And what is music? If not a game within the broader strokes of art? To be human is to be an artist. There are only two classes, among artists. Those who dare and those who flog their individual inadequacies.
Day. Night. Eon. I almost wrote, "Day-O." Then, I thought, "too flippant." Jan is serious in this game.
And which, among your personal nightmares, threatens you within the context of THIS game, Lamont.
You have become boring. You hide behind a twisted, cartoon-inspired icon of whatever doubts you have about who you are.
You poor bastard. And you, YOU, of all people, criticize ME for spending too much money on music.
You poor bastard. Hey. You said "bastard" first.
Edgy. The feeble cry of all the poor bastards who aspire to be children of our illegitimate age.
Jan. Let us continue. This could be good. Time and space. Day. Music. Measured and unmeasurable.
Jan, I have to admit, some of your recent arguments left me cold. But, a game is a game. And, as a fellow music lover on this site, I DO understand your need to spit back. And, I DO understand you as a fellow music lover. What the fuck else IS there?
Ignore the prick. He seeks validation for a non-existent persona.
Day. Indeed. I have measured out my (days) with coffee-spoons. Day. Measure. Caesura. Finite. Infinite. Arbitrary and confined. Infinite and beyond measure.
As usual, Lamont, your positive contributions to the roll of life are appreciated, if only as negatives to pull against.
Okay. On with the game.
Jan, I am SO sorry to interrupt your musings with this screed. But, some things need to be said.
No problem at all. It's time to ignore some ... uh ... "contributors"?
The current word, Mr. Cerf, is "Left". Your next antonym would be ...
Auspicious.
OK, Clifton, "eon" to "day" is one thing, explain "auspicious".
Who is not playing the game?
"Left" is also "sinister," especially in heraldry, or (metonymically) suggestive of bad future outcomes. I give you our current cadre of morons in Congress and the White House. Don't you read Nabokov?
Hey. What IS this? You said, "no diatribes," or (by implication) explanations.
I thought this was a word game.
Lamont, you're not playing. You're serious, and merely on the prowl for dead meat. If you don't find any, your immediate reaction is to try to kill what you do find to fit your own twisted persona.
"Terminate with extreme prejudice"
How ominous. And how phony. It fits the mask. You invoke a movie cliche to supplement your contrived persona. In reality (wherever and whatever THAT is, to the terminally delusional), you couldn't terminate a piss-ant.
Brilliant. As usual. Go back to your video games.
What? the goaltender writes too?
Yes, I've read early 20c/ Russian literature and dramaturgy but I never read what you are implying in any Nabaokov novel. And they are all works of fiction to my knowledge, good for interpretive use but not for factual reference. Using that as your basis for declaring "left" to mean "sinister" is reaching too far.
To reach that conclusion you first must apply the intent of "left" to be the "antonym" to "right", then you can look at how "left" would be applied in a very obscure manner. I didn't ask you for the antonym to "right", I asked you for the opposite of "left". To reach from there to "auspicious" is then taking yet another presumptive leap while standing on balsa wood stilts.
We're playing checkers here, Clifton, not virtual croquet. Try again, this time without the diatribes or entertainer's visions as I stated in the op. "Cadre of morons" fits "entertainer's visions" at the very least.
My game, my rules.

Bend Sinister is the title of one of Nabokov's early novels. If you're that much into Russian Literature, you should read Bend Sinister, although Nabokov is more American than he is Russian.
"Sinister" is an often-used secondary meaning of "left." I am sure you know that left-handed babies/children were once considered unlucky. There is nothing obscure about any of this.
Your game, your rules. Then play with yourself. Remember, you were the one who asked for the lengthy explanation. I don't play checkers -- too boring.
The rules as stated in the op asked for the antonym or opposite of the word I used. I didn't ask for a "secondary meaning" or a literary reference and then you get to make your leap.
The rules are pretty simple, I'm not sure why you would have assumed this was anything more than a friendly game of checkers played on the back porch.
If you wish to continue, there are more words after you reply to "left". Otherwise, the game is what the game is and not what you prefer to make it, Clifton. If that bores you, well ... that's one way out.

You tell him, Clifton. Yeah baby!
Sorry, Lamont. In this particular case, you were right. I apologize for slingin' you shit.
Jan, apparently, wants to jack off, but with out using his own fist. Or is it a "she"? Now, ask me if I give a shit.
You were right. "Game," my wrinkled ass...
Jan says, "day," and the "rules" demand "night." "Left." "Right." "Stop." "Go." How fucking boring. I thought this was going to be fun. How naive of me.
Jan, fuck your OWN fist. Mine is not available.
Some game. Snort.
ill play, jan. what you got.
dont mind lamont and clifton.
clifton is a eunuch and lamont has aspergers
Father Lamont
That would be AN eunuch, you phonetically challenged prick.
Aspergers? I eat 'em with bernaise sauce. And I piss 'em out green.
Yeah. Sure. YOU'LL play. I can't wait for this one.
C'mon, Jan, you sanitized, prolix political wanabee. The game is on. Say something that justifies your presence on the planet.
This had better be good...
The game is still checkers, Clifton, no matter how irrationally exaspreated you care to become.
The rules were stated at the beginning of the thread. What made you think you were not subject to rules? Or that you got to set new rules?
Checkers, Clifton, what? you're no longer bored if you can tell me to jackoff? I was doing that with your responses.
If you are pleading non compos mentis, then you can find another thread to shit in. You've made up with Lamont, I'm sure he has several where he's been taking a dump. You two can have a few cheap beers together and then head over there to disgorge your emotions with all the ineloquence your preposterous silliness and fake outrage can muster.
Or what, Clifton?
You sound like Steele warning the moderate repubs of "consequences".
Don't make vague threats you cannot deliver on.
Or what, Clifton? Or what?
You won't like me?
Oh, boofuckin'hoo!
I've posted the word twice. How many times must I repeat this for you guys? Provide an antonym for that word and we move forward. Otherwise, I have other things to do that sit around looking at the results of a bunch of jackoffs playing with themself.
And, a reminder, this was from the beginning meant to be nothing more than a friendly game of checkers being played on the back porch. That Clifton and Lamont have no intention of staying within the lines is regrettable.
That some members inists on turning every thread into a stinking pile of their own excrement is simply growing very old. If none of you are interested in civility, just stay away from the thread. For once it would have been nice to go through a single thread without the verbal abuse of certain members.
But, no, that's not the game they want to play.
That's a pity and a it's a shame.
Find the word and respond if you want to move forward.
evening
left- took
up
Yeah, I can see that.
south
You're straying, ncdrawl.
Antonyms are the original rule, not colloquialisms or secondary meanings, OK?
Top
you can call me Teddy.
down
How about I call you someone who makes up BS.
We can proceed once you show me any dictionary or Thesarus that indicates your word is an antonym for my word. Or that you even understand what the word "antonym" means.
The rules are simple as they have been stated.
If you have no respect for rules, then say so - you'll fit right into this forum if not this thread.
I have no idea what so many people fear will happen if they just play by the rules of this game. Well, I do but, why would you fear a word?
Are you that afraid a liberal can knock the pegs out from under everything you've heard from the entertainers that you are unnerved by the possibility of a single word that you don't know will be there?
Are you that consumed with fear that it rules your every action?
Provide an antonym for the word, ncdrawl, or drop out and go have a beer and a shit with Lamont and Clifford. They both seen fixated on male asses and I suspect they would like to see yours when it is not on display in this forum.
i was responding to your
earlier word, Jan...
but whatever..
top-bottom
I'm convinced Jan is insane.
OK, ncdrawl, let's get this back in synch.
Give
take
Up
goddamn it lamont you are fired.
jan next word please
Modernist.
er...traditionalist?
Democrat
autocrat
Liberal
My entry. "Exaspreated."
Your rules do not rule the language. Play away, Ncdrawl. I am happy to see that you have found a compatible genius. Day/night, good/evil, up/down, liberal/constrained, prolix/laconic, in/out, evenness/oddness.
Ncdrawl and Jan, by the authority of rules-making vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife.
Now, play away, but spare us the details.
"Or else what?" "This had better be good," or your rules are merely personal, that's what.
Extremist.
Four-on-the-floor.
