Anyone want to go with me?

If I were there in NYC...

I have given a listen to the MMG and MG 12 but not the MG1.6
Heard some difference between the 2...the 12 sounded more spacious.

I'd like to know your thougths on the 1.6...does it need a sub. While the MMG and 12 were very listenable they need a sub. Thanks.

1.6's do indeed need a sub. They only go down to 50hz. The problem is that it's very, very difficult to integrate a sub well with satellites.

Actually it isn't. It just takes careful thought and some experimentation. The 1.6s work great with a nice sub.

The 3.6s are the sweet spot in the line, IMO.

Happy shopping.

REL subs are a perfect match for Magnepan speakers. I guess how much bass someone needs is subjective. Personally, I couldn't live with a pair of MG12QR without a sub, however I could happily listen to MG1.6QR on their own. Of course 3.6's are in another league. They are one of the only "reference" speakers below $5,000.

Only reference under $5K, don't think so. Focus, when deals are made, nothing touches em, a full range speaker, no neeed to add speakers to it to make it full range.

We understand that you like your speakers. But constant repetition of the same point is annoying. Over and over and over and over is annoying annoying annoying. Get it? Should I post this 10 more times? NO - the repetition would make my viewpoint LESS valuable - understand the implication?

Read it again. I said ONE of the only because I haven't listened to EVERY $5000 speaker. I am fully aware that just because I believe something doesn't make it a fact, it's just an opinion.

That's the difference, it is right if it's my opinion. But I ask the question, ..one of the only? If it is the ONLY, isn't it just one, how can something be one of the only....that's like being alone together.

Their sale entails all demos at mostly 25% off. I haven't seen anything that was discounted more than 25%. Lots of B&W speakers, Nolas, Levinson and Mac gear. Their selection is fairly extensive. I believe the sale runs for a week or two, so it's not too late if you want to check it out.
