How Shure and Stanton get no respect.

I use now Shure V15 mR X or what ever teh last iteration is, Stanton CS-100 discontinued top o' line at teh time, and Sumiko Blue Point special...I like teh Stanton overall the best smoother shimmering highs, smooth mids. Shure V-15 is good but a bit duller than teh Stanton CS-100 Sumiko is good too, but it is brighter, less body in the mids. And I use the same RCA cable on all of the 3 VPI-JMW 10 arems for each....so it's not the wire...and these differences are REAL, and measurable. i guess the Stanton CS-100 didn't sell all that well, so they stopped it, they stopped teh Shure also.
"3 VPI-JMW 10 arems..."
That's rich.
I'm dubious.
Did Jeff and JA see these arms?
Well, he had at least one VPI turntable -- I don't remember seeing extra arms, but, check if you can make out any:
In 1967 I bought a Benjamin Miracord TT (don't remember model) with Pickering cartridge. Currently I use a VPI-JR brought up to full HW-19 specs and a Rega RB-300 with all the tweaks and whatnots (VTA adjuster, new weight etc). Although I have several cartridges including a Shure V-15V I've been using a Sumiko Blackbird lately.
Where is the fire marshall in your town??? LOL Just Kidding. With all those lps you need more than ONE TT.
Interesting RIAA info: Granite Audio RIAA info
Jim, I think the photo that Jeff posted was taken at DUP's place when they visited him to hear his system. I can't imagine that sort of shameful clutter in any place Jeff was responsible for.
The TT can only take one at a time!!!eeessshh, the 2 others are down on the other shelf, eeeeesssshhhhhhh. Do you have one of those fancy TT's that play 3 arms at once?
It's gotten WORSER, clutter that is.
Clay,
I was pretty sure that was not Jeff's place. I did like the "manly" flashlight! Makes you wonder what really goes on in the dark there? They do seem to have many brown-outs in the NE. Must be every time Dup fires up thoes huge modded Hafler amps. LOL
I keep looking at the VPI turntable line and find much to drool over. I would think the Scout with a Clearaudio Wood would be very nice. I would bet most VPI owners are very satisfied.
I think that is also what makes that new Marantz table so intriguing. As a package it looks and I'll bet it sounds very good as well.
I still think that your combo of Shure, MMF, and MF phono stage sounds very good. I would bet that more people cut their teeth on something Shure than on most others. Kind of like a singer never using an Shure SM58. Pretty unlikely.
Ah, the old static "decorative" turntable display piece.
Nice!
Is that a red "23" I see written in special pen on the flashlight?
DUP, if you were to keep those batteries in the freezer, your system would sound better.
