Hi,
I have some clicks or cracks that happen occasionnally with the external DAC Musical Fidelity A3 24 during playback, it didn't happen before. I checked the DVD player, SPDIF cable, power cable and analog cables, everything is ok. Is it reported problem and is there a rather cheap solution ?
Thanks for your replies.
Pro Audio has been using multiband equalizers for years to tune theater venues. Recently, I spent $300.00 on a Behringer DEQ2496 and was surprised at how effective it was. Also corrected were some annoying peaks in my BG RD75 ribbon loudspeakers. The automated system took care of the upper ranges and I manually tamed some of the bass problems out. As far as I could hear the insertion of this excellant equipment had no detectable degrading effects. I am using the electronic crossover, Behringer DCX2496, as well with excellant results.

happy to discuss with you...
In my world there is a clear difference of sound among Cd-players. However there tend to bee small differences in measurments, two players can have very simular measurments but completly different sound and vicevers. What is measurements telling us?
What we prefer is individual, some like bombastic sound and others more mellow/smooth sound.
Some people are convinced that there is absolutly no difference in Cd-players and, if there is, it
Looking at the list it's easy to see why people got out of vinyl...
And these are belt drives too. The 12000 $ one ran 1% slow in the review... The Linn needs a 3000 $ power supply to get half way decent wow and flutter spec but is still a class A table. the 30000 SME needs a tonearm... With the VPI you have to pay extra to get an acceptable spindle bearing..
In the C Class there are lots of compromises in the reviews, but the median unit is only 1100 $, what can you expect for that small an investment.
TacT owners there's lots of cost effective tweaks at: http://www.aberdeencomponents.com
Hello, all!
Two questions:
1. I am trying to find the highest quality CD-Rs available. To this end, I am looking for discs that offer superior longevity as well durability and playback performance. My research indicates that "Mitsui Gold Ultra II 24x" CD-Rs were the best, but they are no longer produced, having apparently been replaced by inferior products under the "MAM-A" label. From my readings, it seems discs manufactured by Taiyo Yuden (under various labels) are now regarded as the best, but their life-span is supposedly considerably shorter.
I get Gramophone and love the CD that comes with it. It really connects me to the top reviews of the magazine.
Now that JA and team don't have that much to do . . .
Why don't they product a CD of 10-14 tracks representing the what is spinning that month? I know it would be a license nightmare, but somehow Gramophone does it.
I am not a fan of Stereophile being a music magazine, but it I have to suffer through it, might as well hear what you are talking about.
Just an idea.

One of the reasons I stopped bothering with RAO was the place was flooded with acrimonious posts on this topic.
The topic of DBT (ABX, whatever) is a wee bit like Sex, Politics and Religion - nice to have, but don't discuss them - people's views are too ingrained to permit any rational discussion, let alone any sensible compromise.
Relegating this topic to its own forum would permit those that so desire, to continue the endless debate, while the rest of us that really couldn't give a continental damn, would not have to wade through a gazillion posts.
