I've never used anything but stock power cords. I'm intrigued by the Shunyata Venom $99 cord that is supposedly a low-price introduction to the difference a quality cord can make. With this price and a money-back guarantee I'm going to try it out. My question is where in the system would the cord be expected to make the most improvement: DAC? Transport? Pre-Amp? Phono stage? Or am I falling victim to the hype?
Thanks.
I have been reading Stereophile for 4 or 5 years now and I have noticed that inexpensive components, especially speakers, are regularily evaluated. I do not remember seeing tests for the less expensive universal cd players. I would like to suggest that Stereophile take a look at something like the relatively new Denon DVD 1920. I realize this is also a DVD player, but I am unaware of any universal player in that price range that does not include DVD playback. It would be interesting to see if acceptable SACD\DVD-Audio sound is now available at a lower cost.
