These are some golden rules I have gathered about being an audiophile over 20 years and thosands of dollars.
1. It is totally pointless to have a audio system capable of 120db peaks with very little distorsion when you are likely to get murdered by irate neighbours at arounnd 100db.
2. While a Loudspeaker size of a coffin will impress some, if you have a small room a compact stand mount will actually sound much better. If you only feel happy with a big coffin get a bigger listening room first !
Here is a great site, which I have found indispensible for understanding audio reproduction.

One of the useful points made later on the webpage, under subsection "Caveat Emptor," is the author's note concerning the cost of the equipment needed to begin to test the quality of components (10k+), and why this leaves us at the mercy of the manufacturer.

Thanks very much.
The question has to be - would you pay 5 grand for a Monster cable? This thing is a copper conducter, with plastic insulation and gold plugs, but jeez c'mon
Mission Audio M35i speakers
HK 3480 Receiver
NAD C521 CD
I auditioned my speakers on a Jolida tube amp and loved the sound, but when I hooked them up to my solid state amp it just lacked that special presence it had with the tubes. Now the bass is very smooth but the highs seem harsh. (Drums sound great, vocals and strings do not).
hey guys need some advice, i like to find a new integrated amp. I am using a nad c521bee cd player, yamaha av receicer rx595 and 2 pair speaker... psb alpha B and acoustic energy ae120 3 way flr stand. I woud like an amp that can bring out the best of my speakers, deep, natural and lively sound with nice detailings. I have some ideas... NAD370, ROTEL...
I am installing a Denon 786S receiver using line out zone 2 to power an amp. I am getting continuous bleed over from zone 2 to my surround sound speakers. It's faint without the the amp connected but very noticeable with the amp. The bleed over can be heard even when the line out cables are'nt connected to the receiver. I have even changed out the receiver and I get the same results. This is a standard surround sound setup. I will take all advice.
Thank you.
