Corey Greenberg wrote in 1992, "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Schwing." How important is sound to you when you purchase a recording ?
While nobody can replace your own ears for making an audio decision, folks do find certain reviewers helpful. Who is your favorite audio reviewer and why?

My father has been having problems with his small stereo system. (It's a Tendenberg tuner, Merantz CD player and a Rotel amp). Not very highend stuff. He uses it for the dinning room. He wants to replace all of it. He used to do business with Stuarts Audio in Englewood NJ but they've moved. Is there a place in Manhattan that can hook him up with some good stuff but not too expensive. And not Japanese. I'm going to print out some of the stuff I'm reading on this site. It's all very informitive. Thanks.
First off -- Hi! This site is simply amazing, thank you all so much for your wonderful input. So, here we go -- I'm poised with a meager student's budget to start building my first 'real' audio system... hurrah and huzzah. But, sadly, I'm very very confused about which components I need and which I don't... maybe a little advice would be in order?
I have a pair of Infinity Primus 360 speakers, and I am looking at either the Cambridge Audio Azur 540R or the Marantz SR5500. Which would you recommend? Thanks
