Given that I last researched speakers a long time back, I will appreciate your advise so that I can get a head start.
My range is about $650 and I have really read good reviews on Infinity Primus 360 Floor standing speakers. However on amazon and CNET.com reviews, I have read from many different sources that the BASS of this speaker is either supressed or appear unnatural. Is it true ?? I will be visiting the local dealer tomorrow to have a first hand review.
How about JBL E80s. Do they compare.
Anyother speakers that you can name ?
Thx in adv.

I have been experiencing clipping when my receiver plays SACD Multi channel, and DVD-A multi channel. Clipping occurrs at volume set above -30db, this is not the case when playing standard CDs or DVD movies volume can be set at -10db+. All channels clip with the exception of the sub channel. I have a Marantz SR96 receiver,(I know its old...)with a Marantz DV9500 (This is the 3rd player that Marantz has sent me via player issues the past year+.) The DVD player is plugged into the receiver via analog connections. Speakers used Infinity overture 3 in front, cc3 center, overture 1's rear.
Just curious how others prioritize the importance of cables according to the position within the system.
For myself personally I find the interconnect closest to the source, phono stage to pre-amp, CDP to pre-amp, to be much more critical than pre-amp to power-amp; I exclude TT to phonostage since I've always used a hardwired IC on the TT, e.g. no experience here.
Hello all,
I'm looking for a stereo subwoofer amp that has all the standard
X-over adjustments, a reasonable amount of power, and it needs to have speaker level input and output .
This is the important thing. because I'm using an
integrated amp (Linar model 10) which will not support
line level input/output.
I'm aware of the Gallo Ref 3 SA amp, and it sounds good, but
still is not available as far as I know.
Does anyone know of a stereo sub amp with speaker terminals
on the input and output?
Thanks

They made some tube gear and a some killer D/A converters back in the 90s and I know they received both Class A and B ratings in Stereophile and were in Vegas at a lot of CES shows, so they must have been a rising star at one point in time. I met the owners, Daric Laughlin and Michael Fessler at a local shop years ago. Nice guys. Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to them.
