I own the Messiah in both CD and LP versions and if you do not already own both Cantus Comfort And Joy recordings or the John Marks Red, Blue, Green: Rejoice series Vol 1,2,&3 of chamber style Christmas selections you are truly missing it. These Rejoice CDs are the ultimate holiday background music of all time...IMO. My wife had me bring out both totes of Holiday music on turkey day. What will you be spinning for the next month?

I have had, for some time, a Verve recording entitled The Essential Charlie Parker. I can't recall when I got it and neither the record nor the jacket give any indication of its release date. It is one of those anthologies featuring Parker with various groups. The masters from recordings originally issued as mono were cherry picked and groups of tunes were re-issued "electronically re-recorded to simulate stereo". The sonics are as you might expect, but I've kept it because one or two tracks are great musically.
I have got an old technics SL D210 turntable. It has a phono output. However when I try to connect it to my amp (which has a aux/phono input) it is very quite. I have heard that I might need a pre- amp but I am unsure. What can I do to make it sound louder?
